Learn about the health benefits of kombucha and how to make it at home
Hosted by Kiki Bosch and Tim Cook
3 – 5pm, Saturday, 17 June, 2017
Highbury Fields, London
In this workshop you will learn about kombucha, where it stems from, what it is made of, and how this probiotic drink can benefit your health by helping you heal from the inside out. We will taste different kinds of kombucha so you can find the perfect combination for your palate. You will learn how to make this fizzy beverage at home and you’ll take home a kombucha scoby so you can get started straight away at home.
Together we’ll cover:
- Understand what kombucha is used for and diseases that might benefit from this living drink
- Taste different kombuchas to discover what you like best and how does this specific brew gets made
- Learn how to make kombucha; what tools to use (and NOT to use) so your ‘scoby’ stays happy and healthy, creating a culture that keeps on giving
Plus, you’ll take home your own scoby so you can easily start making kombucha at home straight away. Scoby stands for Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. And that’s exactly what it is! Your scoby is the essential living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform your drink into tangy, fizzy kombucha.
Kiki Bosch, Nutritionist
Kiki is a nutritionist, biohacker, and true daredevil from The Netherlands, currently living in the UK. After three years of studying psychology, she realized that she was looking for a more holistic approach to the mind, body, and its connection. This led her to study nutrition, with a focus plant-based living, and to learn about different strategies used to control the mind and stay healthy.
Tim Cook, The Raw Londoner
Tim is deeply interested in how to maximise health using a plant based approach. He founded Raw Londoner from his love of simple raw food and the amazing variety available in London. He brings his curiosity and passion to the event, leading a practical and fun session designed to help you improve the quality of your life.
